The 2024 Castlewellan Show, held on Saturday 13 July in Castlewellan Forest Park, proved to be another outstanding celebration of rural life, agriculture and community spirit. With strong attendance, great competition and plenty of family entertainment, the event was widely regarded as one of the biggest and best shows to date.

Visitors travelled from near and far to enjoy a packed programme of activities including livestock classes, equestrian events, home industries, local food stalls and trade stands. The showground was filled with colour, excitement and the unmistakable buzz that makes Castlewellan Show one of the highlights of the summer calendar.
Adding to the success of the day, the weather was on the organisers’ side, with the sun making a welcome appearance and helping to draw large crowds to the beautiful setting of Castlewellan Forest Park.
Show Secretary Mary Valentine praised the efforts of everyone involved in making the day such a success. She said:
“The entire organising committee is delighted with the success of the 2024 show. It was certainly a very busy day and one of our biggest shows yet.”
One of the standout attractions this year was the Pygmy Goat section, which attracted a large number of entries and quickly became a favourite with visitors. Families and children especially loved seeing the friendly goats up close, making it one of the most talked-about highlights of the day.

As always, the show also featured strong competition across the cattle, sheep and horse classes, with exhibitors showcasing the very best livestock and horsemanship from across the region. The Home Industries section once again displayed the creativity and talents of local producers, bakers and craftspeople, while food vendors ensured visitors could enjoy delicious local treats throughout the day.
The continued success of the Castlewellan Show would not be possible without the dedication of the organising committee, volunteers, sponsors and exhibitors who work tirelessly each year to deliver such a memorable event.
With another fantastic show now behind them, organisers are already looking ahead with excitement to the future, ensuring that Castlewellan Show continues to grow and thrive as one of Northern Ireland’s most loved agricultural shows. 🐎🐄🐑🐐
